a 24 part splitting knife, would need a ram 4 times that size to push a big dry hardwood oak log through there, or like nic says the knife will not last very long

 

Mike I was in the local scrap yard today and they were half was through killing a brand new hydraulic pack. The motor and pump are still there but they have now cut the tank and filter up. I think the motor must have been at least 20-30kw would need a 80kva genset to get it away but would make a serious log splitter. £400 would have bought the lot and I thought it may suit u. If they get any more complete ones in would you be interested I would have thought the pack would have been 3-4k new.

Hi, yes keep me in mind still looking at a binderberger at the mo, problem with making a decent one is time:001_smile:
