Garden hygiene

BUUURK!

Arrived at a job to find the tree ringed with steaming piles of brown matter.

Got out a trowel I keep for the purpose and got on with cleaning up, flicking the offensive material into the hedge.

The client was mystified and couldn't understand the problem until I explained about ropes, feet, ladders etc don't mix to well with the brown stuff.

Even so, the lack of forethought of some clients and also the lack of garden hygiene especially with kids, swimming pools and free running dogs really does amaze me at times.

Even dogs step in it when running around then trail it into the house or jump up onto laps.

The same issue with cats and flower beds.

An animal that actually buries its turds must be applauded but not when it enters a house and jumps onto the bread board using the same paws!

Attached link to remind those who think I'm being precious about hygiene just how nasty animal faecies can be.

I think I'm now old enough to be past the stage of dealing with this crap, so to speak. I'd think if I turned up to a site like that now I'd turn around and walk away and charge the customer for my wasted time. It's just downright lazy and disgusting and I don't see why anyone should have to deal with it. In addition you add the health issues involved. And yet we have another thread currently running about accidents and the topic of the accident book keeps rearing its head. Reckon we'd be better served with a pooch poop pad for noting down how many barker nests we've dealt with that day. Worse when you hit one with a line trimmer/strimmer etc and you're face shield sieves it into a nice soup for you.

Taupottreeman is very correct. I only had this happen to me a few times and on each occasion I more or less told the customer I could not help them with any type of work for their property. Not a one every questioned why as I did my best to clean my work boots before I got in my truck.

Hmmmn.

Its a serious 'brown' matter this.

Despite cleaning it up around my work area I still stepped in fresh ones I missed.

So when it came to collect my cheque and I was invited into the kitchen I left a trail on the white tiled floor.

I'm no diva but if had done a dump in the garden or patio there would have been merry hell to pay so why is dog and cat poo acceptable.?

Later friends...

I'm too old to worry about upsetting the customer if the garden is covered. One of the first jobs I looked at even the patio was covered in dog mess. I told them I'd come back to assess the job only once they'd cleaned up.

Amazingly they did and I got the job too.
