I've worked out it costs me £0.225 per mile just in fuel, so 40 mile round trip looses me £9.00. The time taken can loose me at least a cubic meter in productivity, so a min of £60 + fuel+ labour

Hmm I can stay at home and loose money easier!!!

To think that way is ok if you are rushed off your feet with sales but if not go the distance and get the money in. We advertise 20 miles but in reality it is rarely over 10.

Any load over 15 miles from the yard $10.00 extra. I have transported up to 4 cords at once but the problem is unloading with a pallet jack and on to a flat pad, not always available but I do my best. Also the traffic is really bad this time of year thru Easter.

Much shorter season here in the Sunshine State we do the best we can considering.

Only doing local deliveries now say within five miles and I hide the cost of delivery in my cost per cube but tell the customer delivery is free! So there getting good quality dry firewood at a good price with free delivery, or so they think.

i think thats the way to do it, anything outside of 7-8 miles i charge £1 per mile to cover the fuel and time.

besides, anything i have delivered always comes with a charge, so why shouldnt I !!!

5mile radius! 10 mile radius! If only!!!

I do not charge per se for delivery but like others charge it within the load price.

If the customer will pay what i ask then i will go anywhere.

In the highlands with its low population density distance means nothing its the money that counts. Also bear in mind there is no traffic up here so 40 miles is under an hour away. Its not like traversing manchester or london

While most customers are within 30 miles i have many that are up to 50 miles away. I do these on slack days when not under pressure. They all make a contribution to profit. Many distant customers also recommend you to closer friends and relations.
