Stihl Chain on 346XP

Hi All

Walked into a shop today and picked up a spare chain for my 346xp.

Was not really thinking straight I just asked for full chisel .325.

Anyway got the box home and was surprised to see it was Stihl chain.

I presumed I would get Husqvarna or Oregon chain.

Anyway I am guessing it is rapid super or something like that?

It has the number 5 on the drive link and 325 on the cutter so looks like it will fit the 346xp.

Does anyone else use this combination?

With it being Stihl chain does it make any difference to sharpening?

Can I still use my husqvarna roller sharpening gizmo?

Cheers

On 3/8" chains it's 1.5mm wide on Husky & 1.6mm on Stihl (sprokets no prob), if the Bar is worn it may fit. I made an adaptor to fit Stihl bars on my 266xp Husky, that way I have no probs getting chains mixed up.

All I can say is look it up on say Mister solutions for .325" chains, I'm finding that they stock Charlton semi chains & they cut as well as Stihl and are 1/2 the price.

It's only certain countries where Stihl saws are supplied with 1.6mm gauge bars/chain. In the USA they are more often 1.3mm gauge or 1.5mm gauge.

Here's their chain decode:

Gauge (on drive link)

1 = .043" (1.1 mm)

3 = .050" (1.3 mm)

5 = .058" (1.5 mm)

6 = .063" (1.6 mm)

0 = .080" (2.0 mm)

(0 = Harvester Chain Only)
