Best way to clean your smelly helmet

Petzl helmet smells a lot, esp chin strap. what's best way to clean it? doesn't look like u can take it apart easily..

My wife used to clean mine regularly, since we had a kid, it doesn't get cleaned so often, she's just busy I guess.

Put it in the freezer

It kills the bacteria making the smell.

They arent that hard to get apart. I take the straps off and put them in the washing machine.

Gonna try Stevie's freezer tip though.

The new petzl 1 doesn't unclip as far as I can see.

Mine is at the distant musky whiff, not quite gagging stage!!

you can get a replacement foam liner for in the helmet from most suppliers for a couple of quid

I have soaked mine in warm water to soften it then I just rub fairy liquid straight on and rub it into the straps and swill in warm water.

But realistically for under £50 you can just have another:thumbup:
