I love my VT/AP and tachyon combo, and never needed to over complicate things by adding to it, all this rings crabs and figure 8 is just playing about with jangley bits!

 

im still climbing on the AP VT I bought at capel this year, hardly any wear at all and i use it 6 days a week all day! though i am thinking of replacing it soon anyways, i think over 6 months is good enough!

If it ain't broke don't fix it Tone!

 

I leave mine attached, but check it without busting it when it's set sweet.

 

As Steve has said, a VT dissipates the heat more evenly than most other knots.
