If the saw is running, look up:)

2 types of groundie.

Ok and brillant.

The first will only ever be ok, the latter doesn't need to be spoken too, because he or she will of already done it:)

those ones are like finding a nuggat of gold in your local stream, i have yet to find either:thumbdown:

I worked with a groundy you could change ends of the branch rope. Change climb plan, leave slack or not in the rope. Never got a WOF look, and always got the right amount of raps with out being asking, always let a little bit of rope slip to take the sting out of the swing when needed never to any crap from a climber ether.

Moved jobs and have spent the rest of my life working with OK grounds men never met another groundy like that. Its had to get a used to doing to jobs (doing mine and telling the groundy to untangle my rope bla bla bla)

what about writing what you want on the bit you send down and just sticking a marker pen behind your ear or would that require too much forward planning:thumbup:

I am surprised your arborcom batteries run out mine cet charged after every full days work and they will do at least 2 days non stop chitter chatter.

next time we have em out I will make a point of turning the mikes off and trying to have a discussion using hand signs whilst I am climbing the tree and using a saw:thumbup:

P.s the writing notes bit I have just applied for a patent and also for using paper aeroplanes to send the message down is a great way to entertain the client:biggrin:

I've found an easy way to figure if they are the "excellent groundies".

Just ask yourself if you miss them when they are not there.

The ok guy wont be missed, but the job never goes that well when the best is not on site

The best groundies wont need signals either!
