Bit of an achievement/record for me.

Today, I ground out 31 stumps in a garden using the Bandit sidewinder and last week I had ground out approx another 50 in the same garden using a little Carlton. In total approx 81 stumps. Ok they were mostly Leylandii, willow and poplar but still a lot to do. Can this be considered a record?

 

Also has anyone thought about a franchise from Stump Busters? If you had the money and the will you could have a huge company covering the whole of Scotland if you wanted to!

 

Any views on franchises?

Now then...

Back in June, I ground out 80 Picea abies with an average dbh of 30cm using

the same set of green teeth.

Unfortunatley my hour clock is not functioning but I only took 3 days or between 20-24 hours. Each one about 15-20min.

The subbie we use for stumps took out 350 stumps in a single day at Bedale golf course. Mainly oak and birch, small stuff like 4inch to 6inch, but that's still quite impressive IMO.

Assuming thats an 8hr day, thats 1m 37seconds per stump!

I think in the early days of stump grinders a franchise would have potentially been quite profitable....unfortunately now, most tree companies have a stump grinder as part of their set up. Not saying you wouldnt make money, but i doubt its as lucrative as it once was.

I agree with Steve on this one I think that the franchise train left sometime ago and it would really be tough to enforce any kind of exclusive rights you may or may not have been offered. Congrats on that number of stumps, it was a steller achievment IMO!

I think if I wasn't using the Bandit I would have done the last 30 or so stumps a lot quicker. The Bandit is a big numb piece of crap to be using all day.
