Yeah more of exploration. Was going to see what the solder read first.

 

The last one I did without the gasket and the solder was still reading 0.35mm. So with no base gasket it still had room to remove some.

 

But then others I have removed the gasket and the piston slaps the pot top.

 

One piece of advice Rich, clean the carbon off the piston crown and squish band when you measure the squish, I have always got 0.60 - 0.65 squish on modified MS200s - 0.35 is outside of the accepted level of squish:thumbdown:

Hmmm. May have to check then. Normally untouched the first reading is 1.0mm give or take a few .0s.

 

The lowest is 0.35 but that was with a dirty piston crown. So plus probably 0.30 of crud. :lol:

 

The lowest level upped the comp from 150 to 190. The highest reading I've had expet for a new meteor piston that threw out 200 plus. And that is now only better with use.

 

I havnt had him come back saying its hurt his arm yet :001_tt2::lol::lol::lol:

that looks promising eddy - is it from an 011ave - cant make out the numbers from your pic?

 

009, shares a lot of common parts with the 010, 011 and 012, flywheel is 10988

How the bloody hell do I connect the last half of a spring on a stupid stihl clutch?!

Done it, lots of swearing, brute force and a pair of needle nosed pliers

LOL yes what a PITA, I did mine by tying some string/cord so that you have two small loops separated by a knot ( like the eternity symbol or an 8 sideways)

hooked one loop over spring end and poked a screw driver through other loop and using it as a lever forced the spring in place:biggrin:

Works for the spring attached to brake band too.

Stihl brake springs are easy, but I don't need to worry bout that on an 090

It's when the spring slips out the pliers and disappears accros the workshop. That's when the fun begins.

 

A bench vice is always usefull for doing these.

I think that's the recommended method.

Works for me every time!
