The plug is black, so I assume its still rich, but I'll turn it back to what it was, haven't tried taching it in the wood yet

Iam no ways an expert, but if still rich, perhaps a secondary air leak like tge crank seals?

If the screws have no effect on mixture that might be the caze?

I thought an air leak would lean the mixture off?

Right, ran the 090 contra through a log, revs kept dropping, will rip the muffler off in a bit to check that, check the plug, and the decomp valve, as I don't like this old design

090 carb has a governor. Is it operating correctly? Also, governor needs to be bypassed in order to properly set the high speed.

Yes it would. Causing the saw to rev high. And eventually seizing it.

 

A rich mixture would indicate not enough air in or too much fuel. This could be a meter arm height problem or blocked air filter.

Right then, anyone know the arm height for a tillotson HL112C carb?

That hasn't kicked in yet, but I did put it on max tension
