Thought I'd share a fix of a somewhat technical nature.

Petrol lawnmower given to us for free. Nothing suspicious about that. No throttle cable.

Filled it up with 2 stroke, primed and it fired, but couldn't bring the revs up.

I'm not the type to cut corners so after a brief head scratch I came up with this:

If my technical expertise can be of any use to you Spud, feel free to pick my brains

10 out of 10 for having a go Joe, but that machine has no throttle cable as it should have a preset throttle linkage via the governor spring which looks like it may now be bypassed.

And... 2 stroke? I guess its all you had? In truth it will run on 2 stroke, but may be bit smoky. Make sure the oil level is OK though as that engine has never been service (painted plug!)

Keep posting these little gems of tech help.

Technically it doesn't need oil any more now it's running 2 stroke, right?

It was indeed all we had, and it does smoke!

Thanks for pissing on my chips about the throttle cable anyway Barry, the springs are all stretched and worn.

It'll still comply with PUWER right?

The oil in the sump lubes the bottom end and valves, your two stroke will just lay in the bore so listen to Barrie:thumbup:
