394 seized, had the new piston to fit! Firstly, it's so damn tight in the air box that the carb is a nightmare to disconnect, second, how do I get the bloody muffler off? Finally, wtf were husky thinking with a 3/16 Allen?!

I am guessing you know all about cleaning cylinders by now, never done a 394 but am guessing it will be similar to the 395Xp!

The air box - one allen comes out fine, the higher one! Drill a small hole in the plastic that is hiding the lower one - there is usually a recess in it as if they meant it to be but filled it in at the last moment - it helps getting a long key in the allen bolt:thumbup:

The muffler - am guessing the same as the 395XP - undo the two front nuts - lube if necessary, undo the two lower support plate bolts, loosen the bolts holding the dogs on and then wallop the muffler with a mallet and pull it off - that is usually how it shifts on a 395XP!

The 3/16 - yup, pretty damn weird, why not M5 or M6 - caught me out a few times - almost like some US made kit - Metric on the outside and imperial inside:001_rolleyes::lol:

Google the part number, and you'll find it's for an ECHO HEDGE TRIMMER

HC-1500(36), see https://www.echo.dk/reservedelstegninger/ECHO/Haekkeklippere/HC-1500(36)_P014-002620-12Ib_EN.pdf

I have an exhaust going spare, as I've modded my 051 into something a bit bigger, unfortunately no cover

Good Day,

Sending an old style 090AV back to customer. Restored, no paint, just good working order. Customer said not to even fuel up and test.

New to me 394XP. A few new parts, but nothing major. Not sure if I will start it or not. May just put it on the Husky shelf.

Another Husky, 3120XP, that I will run. Have most of the other big saws, but this will be the first 3120.

Two scored Stihls, 460-660. Not sure why. Both vacuum/pressure test fine, no water, carburetors clean and adjusted against stops. Both happened during extreme cold, -5'F.

The usual trimmers, blowers and small saws for landscapers.

Just another day at home, this is not work at my day job.

Got a Husqvarna 154SE as payment for fixing a Husqvarna 254xp for a mate. The 254 needed only a clean inside and out, new cranks seals and a tune up and she ran perfect. The existing non original seals in it disintegrated like eggshell on removal. Strange i thought.... never seen that before.

Anyway the 154 was an ex forestry 1983 i believe and looked like a bag of poo... She'd had a hard life and then neglected in a shed for years after not working properly until she came my way ;)

No coil, No choke lever, no flywheel faring(hence the stop switch wire was so mangled having rubbed on it), 90psi compression, filthy dirty carb, leaky seals and a gummed up exhaust port and cranks case, suggesting use of very poor quality 2-stroke oil.

The only saving grace was the steel chrome cylinder, which was faultless so i figured it would be a good investment to re-condition her.

New piston, piston ring, bearings throughout, cranks seals, carb kit and a thorough clean inside and out and a removal of the base gasket for more compression and a complete reseal with Dirko HT. Then i manufactured a new choke lever and crossrail to tie the new coil and stop wires to prevent the flywheel munching them.

@ 180psi she started 3rd pull and now after a tune up runs like a dream!

Result !

Looking at it however with all her scratches and broken off bits off casing, you'd be forgiven for thinking the 154 is a scraper, but she runs really good now and flies through wood. Really pleased. :)

humming and arrring over a spud port..........hmmm

Yes, that is why :) don't know how much postage is, very rarely have a day finish early enough to go to a post office, but I would imagine around £5

I'm rebuilding an Echo 330evl at the moment. I dont spose anyone knows a source for oil and fuel caps? I am gonna check with the greek for rings if I can save this P&C. Yes, gonna port it, of course, but don't expect a screamer. I gotta find some compression for it.
