  1. Good Day, Sending an old style 090AV back to customer. Restored, no paint, just good working order. Customer said not to even fuel up and test. New to me 394XP. A few new parts, but nothing major. Not sure if I will start it or not. May just put it on the Husky shelf. Another Husky, 3120XP, that I will run. Have most of the other big saws, but this will be the first 3120. Two scored Stihls, 460-660. Not sure why. Both vacuum/pressure test fine, no water, carburetors clean and adjusted against stops. Both happened during extreme cold, -5'F. The usual trimmers, blowers and small saws for landscapers. Just another day at home, this is not work at my day job.
  2. Good Day, I am not too sure that the problem is not ignition related. Have seen this many times on saws, new and old. Unit will idle only, maybe sometimes get it to accelerate, but usually will only idle. Whether points or electronic, sometimes when they go bad, you can have a good spark. But it is not sparking at the right time or fails when spark plug is in cylinder under compression. Hope this helps, Larry. HOS.
  3. Good Day. I work at a STIHL dealership and had a similar problem with customers saw. When unit would get hot it would stop dead in the cut. Maybe 12-15 full bar cuts, 25". Unit would always restart but slow down and stall. I understand yours is dying at idle, but maybe a similar problem. I put a spark tester on it and it was loosing spark, only when unit was fully at operating temperature. Ran fine when cold. Replaced control unit (ignition module) and no more problems. Older unit, but fully covered by STIHL. Hope this helps, Larry. HOS.
