Ash - early leaf drop

There seem to be a lot of bald-looking ash around here, some seemed to have dropped their leaves before the end of August and a lot of the others aren't far behind.

 

I've not looked closely and am presuming it's a case of them 'thinking' its autumn already rather than pests or diseases. Any thoughts as to what is triggering this? The relatively cold / damp summer I guess??

 

I've not had time to look in here for a while so if this has already been discussed, would someone mind pointing me in the direction of the relevant thread?

ash usally drop there leaves last. All ash trees i have seen up here are still fully green.

Any other signs or symptoms, such as bark necrosis or anamorphs, of Chalara fraxinea ?

Have noticed the same as well one is a tree I'm putting an ap in to fell tonight as it's about a meter froma building but have not looked at it closely for months.

doh. yeah its the other way around. Ash before oak get a soak, oak before ash get a splash. etc

 

Verticillium wilt makes leaves fall on green trees ?

I've seen a few funny looking Ash recently, but round here most trees seem to be turning early especially, Lime, Beech, Syc, and some ash. Early Autumn i think, a least we had a good summer

There is a lot of rust and powdery/downy mildew about this year so that could have some effect maybe.

Thanks for the replies, I'll look a little closer for pests / diseases / other symptoms - I've only noticed them when driving about and assummed it was a general weather thing.

noticed quite a few ash over here also (we had a crap summer)
