Fed up so I'm going to vent!

Lately I've been in the market for several bits of arb-related machinery/equipment, looking to spend a total of around £15k. Since the whole planet is in a bit of a financial mess you would think there'd be no problem in getting someone to snatch your money out of your hands and push their product on to you, yes? My experience has been not-so!

Now I know that in spite of the economic climate many are still very busy but I can't believe the reluctance of some companies to return calls, email back within 48 hours (if at all) or even answer the phone! Damn it's frustrating!

I think its a sign of the recession. We used to quote 10 jobs in the boom time then we were quoteing dozens. So we stopped selling Generators. We had some nice silent 80kva silent gensets for hire and customers said joe Bloggs was cheaper down the road so I shoved them through a plant sale, So did everyone else now there are less generators for hire and no one to answer the phone.

Don't feel so bad it is just as bad on the other side of the pond. I will attend trade shows and have folks come by my booth and say they are really interested in my products and when I get back to the office and give the inquire a call back or email say within Two weeks after the event, it like who are you? and why are you bothering me??. I politely remind them about the product and their apparent interest at the time of the show, some remember some have real short term memories. Same with my suppliers for raw materials to make finish product. I believe many employers and companies around the world are having similar problems with under qualified staff to save money and cut back on expenses. It's not pretty but we have to do the best we can to keep our customers happy and content.
