Several people I know (all women) have said that my drinking habits are close to alcoholism!

So here they are: When I get back from work I look forward to a can of beer or a glass of wine. If I have beer then I'll have two cans or with wine about two, maybe three small glasses. I relax with it, cook my tea and then take the dog out for some training.

I don't drink in the day but because I 'look forward' to my evening drink then I'm borderline alcoholic! Am I? Are they right?

I'm the same.

I think so long as you don't need a drink to relax, your fine.

I could live with out drink no problem, but I enjoy it so I have it.

are you dependant on it? what would happen if you didnt have your evening drink?

Nothing would happen. Sometimes I don't have a drink but I do enjoy it.

I get this from my girlfriend too and I only drink at the weekends. I look forward to a few beers because I can wind down and chill out. She's got me on a "no beer for two weeks" thing now.

Those women in your life may be nagging but it shows they care about you too.

7 nights a week, 365 days a year for how many years??

it does add up, if you are looking for a number, I think 5 units a day is the recomended maximum amount.

if it effects your life and others negatively then I would say it is a problem, if it's a couple of beers after work then you enjoy it mate, I am currently having a crabbies Ginger beer:)

To the best of my knowledge. Alcohlism is an addiction or dependency of regular intake of alcohol. It could by 10ml daily, or lots only on a weekend. It is when it affects you mood/behaviour. when your deprived of it. You do not have to drink excessively or get drunk. Personally I would take heed and prove to yourself and your friends. By abstaining a couple of months. or another time period see what difference it makes. Its nice not to be beaten and prove your you dont need it. I know loads of people who deny but never prove it. You will feel good if you can prove it, but it is similar to giving up nicotine for some.

I've just had a can of weak cider, taking the dog down to the river and then doing a stir fry....can't wait. Enjoy your Crabbies.
