new to hitch climber

after 10 years of prussik i decided to spice things up and by tachyon line, polyester climbing line and hitch climber set-up.

 

Went out to try it today on oak for some practice and found it difficult. I am using a distel with it.

 

any tips?

Im fairly new to a hicthclimber to and ive found the pantin very useful indeed. I use a knut as my hicth knot with armour prus and rapidee pulley.

 

I think it just takes time im still not use to it and dont think I will be for a while.

hi i myself changed not too long ago and found the change strange at first .you just need to get your confidence and you will not look back .

try the armor prus on tachyon, have you the orange tachyon or tuefelburger one?

 

also try the VT (valdotain tresse) I find this Armor prus tachyon VT combo is flawless, and will NEVER go back to prussik!

 

likewise, the Pantin is a great tool with this combo also.

Problem I found with the v.t is that it doesn't grab very well after you have ascended so it takes a little adjustment to help it along.

For me i find the howard hitch far better than the vt on the hitchclimber.

Hamadryad, I bought the lime green / blue Tachyon with ocean polyester eye to eye. been tying my distel at different lengths to see if this helps ..seems like distel does not grab to well woth this set-up. i have some bee-line and was going to try this out on my older rope.

 

might try some armor prus though. not to keen on the vt but will give it a shot.
