Anchor point failure

Today i was pruning an ornamental pear and as i went to prune it back from the neighbours house my last few cuts and the stem as was anchored into snapped out about 2 meters below my anchor point, i fell about 4 meters into the neighbours garden somehow managed to land unscathed apart from a grazed elbows came very close to falling through a big window. Glad you're OK Ewan, the distances don't sound that macho, but we all know they are enough to kill you or mash you up badly.

 

That glass could have messed you up for sure.

lets see now, two of you boys in a week, a lot of summer branch drops too at this time?

 

drying wood charactersitics and our/your wieght added, maybe generating the same stresses as summer branch drop? although from what I can see (which isnt a lot) I would have been climbing very gingerly on that anchor

Its winter where i am lads im in Oz so no summer branch drop and no leafs, thanks for the comments think i was very lucky to come away with as little as i did, i think i may have hit the fence on my way down, cant really remember haha
