Stihl four mix

Rupe
 Share

Recommended Posts

Just bought a new 4mix combi tool motor. The dealer says I should use the higher grade stihl 50:1 oil in the all 4mix engines.

Is that just a sales ploy from stihl?

Anyone have any experience with 4 mix engines and what oil are you running them on?

I don't really understand how the thing works! Shouldn't it have valves and cams and distributors etc?

i used one just the other day for the first time rupe, probably the same one you have, the combi system. i was surprised how nice the hedge cutter was....kinda wierd at first as the engine isnt sceaming its guts out you expect it to not cut.

sorry can offer no input regarding the engine!

Note that you can pull the combi hedger off its pole and put it on the HT75-100-131.

The 131 goes good,i would be sticking with the stihl oil!

I got some 4mix reason you should use super hp or ultra is it produces less soot which in the 4mix will clog valves quickers wont kill it just need a carbon clean sooner plus the better oils offer better lub etc.

I use super hp its a pound dearer than the standard red.

wont use ultra too much i think.

I got the hp stuff as advised by the dealer, and he said its only a pound dearer but they don't sell it 5L only 1L at a time!

I have the older 2 stroke combi for about 4 years and its great. I have a fixed and an adjustable hedge trimmer plus pole pruner and strimmer. Now with the extra power unit we have two trimmers at once and a better pole pruner when required.

I also have two extension poles so we don't really need a telescopic pole pruner but one of those would be nice one day.

I can't seem to get hold of the carbon fibre pole extensions yet. Anyone seen those?
