Things have changed so much these days. Being forced to go stand outside a pub these days in all weathers just to have a smoke is embarrassing and almost humiliating....it does make you feel like an outcast

 

It worked though!

 

Tbh I found that although it was a PITA most people just accepted it.

 

Looking back I do wonder how we allowed people to smoke while others were eating.

 

Apparently the health improvements were noticed within 18months of the bans. Now that has to be a good thing.

 

Also contrary to popular belief smoking costs the government (well the previous government not his one) more than the revenue the taxs on cigs brings in. They didnt plough loads of money into the smoking bans and ads just for our health!

 

Anyone noticed that there are no more adverts for public awareness on smoking, STI'S, alcohol and drugs!?

I was talking to an old boy in the village the other day, and he asked how I was getting on with quitting. I told him it was going well. He packed up years ago, luckily, as he just had a heart problem sorted. I asked him how his widower neighbur was doing as I had seen him lately, "hadn't you heard?, he went to hospital for a dead leg, and they had to amputate!" He never could give up the smokes, and necrosis set into his leg. Sad.

Well its now a full month since i quit the evil weed. Not missing it now at all, in fact each day seems easier. Healthwise I can draw a good lungfull of fresh country air, I can cycle again without tiring for far further. Its great.
