Vehicle recovery services

I had a big Ifor trailer with a winch and ramps. If either of my landies broke down, I'd just winch 'em on and pull them around to my mechanics place. I towed my U1300 back with my landie once (low ratio 2nd all the way!).

Another time my Mog clutch went and a local fella recovered me with a big Scania and crane. He had to 'walk' the wagon up his ramps as the air had leaked out and the brakes were stuck on..he only charged me £60, what a top bloke:thumbup1:.

Nowadays, I'm a one vehicle band and I get the AA to recover me with relay.

Does anyone else use a service for which you pay at the time and then reclaim the cost from the company? You pay an annual membership (~£40) and they make their money from those who forget to claim.

So if you need recovery you call them, they nominate a towaway, you pay the towaway and reclaim the full cost.

We've used Autoaid (part of Boncaster Insurance Services) several times now and can't fault them or the agents they use.

What sort of size vehicel are you looking to get recovery cover for ?

This is it really

RAC have refused to recover as they say we're commercial vehicles which I suppose is fair enough though they always came out in the past to help us out when things went wrong. I need a recovery company who will deal with us as a business.
