Has any body heard of this scheme or know the criteria for getting it in tree work, one of the large organisations I work for is insisting I become a member for further work to come my way so I am interested in any bodys experience with the" contractors health and safety scheme"

It's easy peasy, administered by the London Borough of Merton.

Less than 5 employees is easy enough to do if your good with the paper work side of things.

We got a consultant to do ours and it cost about 360.00 in their time and 200 to CHAS.

I think it's pretty simple if you have a head for paperwork.

Most local authorities in Wales ask for it now. It doesn't win you work but helps with H&S PQQ's.

The AA are approved to administer CHAS accreditation. I don't know about easy peasy. It's significantly more onerous than the equivalent section in the AAAC scheme. We've just re-done ours.

It should be seen as more than a box ticking exercise. The criteria for less than 5 employees must be less demanding than for us. My Health and Safety Manager has to be IOSH and the 2-week course he is going on in November costs more than £1500+Vat. That's just for the course. I have to pay his wages, travel and cover the lost earnings. Still, if it saves an injury incident it'll be worth it.

Unsure as to whether it'll win us work yet.
