that would have been a klemheist tied with a webbling loop i assume

The mention of 'footlocking' with a pantin doesnt really sit well...a pantin is a mechanical ascender and footlocking doesnt enter the equation.

Plenty of videos of footlocking on youtube, but ideally you need someone to show you first hand

Now then Mr Bullman, don't be pedantic old bean! Terribly sorry for the inaccuracy of my title.

To please you I would re-title in future to be 'Pantin mechanical ascending climbing aid to be worn and used on a single foot only'. How's that?

In the mean time, it's a Pantin that does the foot locking job! PANTIN FOOTLOCKER!!!:001_tt2:

:lol::lol::lol:

Not really Steve but it does require a little more thought! And should be undertaken with a little more caution going low and slow or with guidance. Something I have wanted to try is a Petzl double ascendor and 2 pantins on a double line, it would be similar to a Mar Bar system.

If I ever find myslef having to redirect through a fork and then have myself hanging in open space with a short ascent back to the fork, I will footlock the tail of my line with the pantin using both legs by putting my foot without pantin ontop of the other, using both legs like this instead of pumping furiously:001_tongue: with the other is more comfortable and slightly more ergonomic i feel.

All these little things make our lives easier, and hopefully will keep us climbing longer.

Think I've barely used a pantin in 5 years since climbing on a vt, came in handy one or two times as my foot locking is laughable at best!!but find it's just another bit of hinderance dangling off my harness, so stays in the truck just in case!
