Dual saprophytic decay - Pleurotus pulmonarius :thumbup1: & Coprinus micaceus

I which the C. micaceus - being a final stage and not very effective white rotter - doesn't contribute much other then "consuming" the remaining bits of wood totally decayed by others.

kinda cheated a little bit on this one as its a hedge:blush:

but what would this be growing on this laurel hedge?

at an educated guess i would say phellinus ignarius or fomes fomentarius (i really need to keep practising my ID'ing!) or is it something else entirely?

Was down in Dorset at the weekend, near Blandford Forum.

What a thoroughly nice neck of the woods :thumbup1:

Came upon this episode of dual decay.

Quercus robur leaning toward a Playground, hosting both Inonotus dryadeus and Fistulina hepatica.

Suffice to say, I will be getting in touch with the local parish council to find out if they are aware.

.

The tree you speak of has been reduced due to the dryadeus n fistulina. As for the two in the background. The one with serious die back is going to be reduced to a pollard. The council tree boys are doing the work and are going to fracture prune and coronet where possible.
