Sorry for the derail, but many years ago when i used to work on the roads we were closing a road coming out of tilbury docks which involved quite a big back to back diversion about 300 signs iirc, that we put up through the night so we could close the road at 6am the next morning by the time we had got to the end of the diversion most of the signs had been nicked (for scrap).

Nothings sacrid anymore.

some place, they foiled us by getting a guy to walk past and start staring at our gear on site, prbs about 2min, he walked off james went to the van and diesel gone.

to be fair i can see exactly what is meant by egg's quote, trouble is that all too often you can't nesscessarily deter the thieves, merely delay them

In my eyes your either honest or dis-honest wheather something is chained up or not.

To say a chain makes a man dis-honest if he nicks it implies that a man that steals it if it aint got a chain is honest :confused1:

this is also a true statement, if somewhat cryptic at this time of night on a friday... had to read it back a couple of times to get it!:laugh1:

We were working near tilbury docks a couple months ago, 4 jerry cans of diesel with us, you can see how close we were but they still managed to take it from site:confused1:

it was stacked inbetween the trailor and pick up by the tow bar on work site side of trailor and pick up

Work anywhere near that area and you need an extra body as top cover with a gpmg :sneaky2::thumbdown:

There were 3 of us constantly loading the truck which was 5M away from the house which we had to go through. As I was contract climbing for another company my saw is not covered by their insurance!

Ordered a 201T from Justin, don't know if its as good as the 200 and the Husky isnt out yet!:sneaky2:

I shall start welding the track rail over the passenger side of the cab roof for that Barrett .50 calibre mounting........Ask Ells if it is gonna need a change on our insurance......:P

they make harder chain to cut through, then they make gas axes and angle grinders easily portable, we cant win!

i have a steel box in my truck, it fits my saws in and i can lock it, not the easiest thing to get into at the best of times, but it works.

When on site if im in a back garden i take it all through with me and then i know where it all is, the only thing that may stay in the truck is a brush or shovel till we need it, all valuable kit is in sight.

Its happening too much, are people cottoning on to us or is it just the times?!

Id love to set up a booby tap for them, something that would cause them a great deal of pain and suffering , and me a lot of satisfaction, anyone any ideas? mind you, you'd probably be done for it by some backwards law.

Since I have been done twice I want to connect my lock ups to the mains so if they try anything they get the full whack 250,000 volts up there arm.

Is that a bit over the top!
