count the drive links which are the pointy bits on the bottom

look on the bar and it should tell you

then take it back to the shop and ask them to remove 1 drive link if still needed

or send it to me and will post it back same day:thumbup:

Try removing chain and bar and servicing the bar, dress the rails, check the nose sprocket, clean the grooves out, if the rails are even and not burred rotate the bar and put back on making sure you clear the oil way holes. Next check your chain, have you taken down the rakers [depth guages] too much do you have wear on the chassis and or heal of the tie straps ? next check your sprocket is it worn excessively are the tie straps shiny on the chain and the drive links hooked.

Clear away the chain brake so it can't build up heat and rebuild then check tension to half a link and snap back plus you can move with both hands the chain around the bar.

If you have the same problem go and get a link taken out as suggested. But if the link count on the bar matches with the chain then count the drive links again just to be sure.

steve, chain oil is working fine. iv hade it on full oil since i got the saw. its aslo producing loverly long shavings so its not blunt.

slack ma gridle, whats the differnece in number of links roughly, do you just take out 1 set of links to sort the problem?

cheers,

gary

It should be producing square flakes not long shavings, unless you are not cross cutting. You need to check your filing angle if this is the case. It sounds like you are not filing it steep enough.
