Best small van for tree cutters?

What's the best van for a tree cutter, just a man on the ground with saws!

 

High mpg

Comfortable

Reliable

Nippy

Cheap to tax and insure

Small to medium sized, perhaps with the option of a make shift bed in the back

 

Any ideas not Mog Landy or Tranny!!?

Vw caddy but it depends what kind of money you looking to spend, or maybe a transit connect good wee vans.

I have a connect van it is very good on fuel and has been reiable so far.

i use a renault kangoo, economical and nice to drive, has a few issues but overall i am happy with mine.

I like my 2002 Peugeot Partner It's no VW but for the money its bob on.

 

Motorway run this weekend with a canoe on the roof about 43mpg.

 

My old man (6'4) has plenty of room.

 

Not fast, but not bad. It's got a 1.9 but the lack of turbo shows.

 

Tax is alright and insurance on its cheaper than anything else I could find, main reason I got it

 

Dad has a Combo, Connect, Astra and Kangoo for his boys, I think mine is second to the Transit in "specs"- but cheaper to buy, run and insure.

 

The Berlingo and Partner are the same vehicle underneath.

I agree with the partner, or if you're after a little bit bigger go for the dispatch/expert, twin SLD are a godsend.

I've got an ex-United Utilities Vauxhall Combi and it's a cracker.

 

It's got a false floor in the load area with storage underneath, is caged off from the front and as it's basically a corsa van its 1.7 diesel is realy nippy and frugal.

 

It cost me a couple of grand two years ago with 60K on the clock from a guy who bought them 'in bulk' from the auctions...

Good thread. I would want 50mpg+ on a run.

 

Been trying to get a Pug 106 van for a while; 1.5D breezes 60mpg+

Citroen, all the way. Although mine is an old defunct one, it is totally reliable, go anywhere, do all that is asked and more, carnt fault it. Would defo buy another when needs must.
