As usual I went for a little wonder round the woods today, and for the two rob's and xerxes, this tree was if you remember standing when we was there in september. near the Oak with the meripilus, where all the polymorphas where?

Obviously found plenty of fungi which I will put up later but wondered if any of you three have shots of this one standing?

ive got shots of that buried somewhere too!

i bet that made a cool sound!

how recent do you reckon that is?

no more than a fortnight, due to the freshness of the damage and the eruption of Chondrostereum purpureum which would have taken around two to three weeks to get to its current state after the failure.:thumbup1:

Ive had my eye on this tree for a while having seen blobs of colour at the base on regular drive bys, today I got the time to stop by for a little closer look and found laccaria laccata in abundance along with four girdling multiple Ganoderma pfiefferis.

Stopped to get some shots of this Larix decidua that failed in the recent winds too, went in to see the agents who say they are just waiting for confirmation on a road closure!:001_huh:

There is nothing more annoying than finding one of the best examples of a fungi youve ever seen at a less than optimal state for photography!

This Cedrus lebani is not more than a mile from home, never knew it was there till today! The biggest multiple group of P. Schwienitzii ive ever seen.

A biotrophic parasite causing a brown cubicle rot of the sem and roots with fairly serious structural implications worse on some species than others with Larix being very poor at dealing with this decay organism.

It is commonly the agent of demise in very old Cedrus maybe because cedrus especially here in the u.k dont have enough fungal associates and competitors

Did you sound the trunk/butresses Tony?

Bet it would make a very interesting reading for decay detection.

Also bet that's now on your diary for a re-visit later this year
