give you the AA guide on the 10th then!:thumbup1:

Did you guess on the tree species or did you "read" the body language?

i kind of read the body language as you are aware i'm trying:thumbup:

so far my simple understanding is that on C. sativa the body language that is present is:-

(I think)

in particular order (as that i am still trying to understand)

necrotic growth of the bark

exposed heartwood

can cause burring and buckling (shell), it will also open up the burrs/cankers (again i think)

its hard to tell on that picture but is there any blackened stains near/on the burring?

and on Quercus can't it create inosculations plates (reaction zones) on the cambium?

but i'm sure there's something else i've missed too??

And PS, don't you mean the 17th?, the 10th is tomorrow and as far as i'm aware i'm going swimming with my boy:biggrin:

A rare image, panic fruiting of rigidiporus ulmarius on poplar. the tree was pollarded (not me) due to the fungi and die back. the poplar has all but died due to the massive dysfunction from the colonisation. I "assesed" it last year same time, but was not as aware of the significance of panic fruiting as I am now. I went to visit this tree today as I do many hundreds/thousands of trees on "my watch" and am very pleased with the capturing and insights gained. this along with another case over recent days has for me just about confirmed my beliefs in Gerrits teachings, I didnt doubt him, just... i need for my own experience to experience it first hand and delve deeper in order for me to make this part of my own thinking when i am assessing these things.

I know many do not have the faith i do in the body languages of decay and of the fungi themselves, but I assure you in the years to come, this aspect of our art is going to be playing a very major role in our working lives.

I am very fortunate, I chose to study this path a long long time ago, and i advise all to do the same, we are moving into a time of great understanding of trees and their many complex relationships. We tend to fear things we do not understand, my ultimate goal, to put love back into treework and remove the fear, for it is rarely justified.

"inclusionality" is coming to arboriculture:001_cool:
