is it strong enough to pull it through the friction knot? or can it only take the loose end?

Good question Gareth but even if it won't pull rope through the friction knot it's still infinitely better than having a lanyard tail getting caught up around ankles, saw pod, branches, stubs, forks, chainsaw etc.

ahh yes i do agree! the loop under the knee is my favourite.... but if it could! batman himself would envy the retractability of the device and dyson would be asking for a cut.
