Yes indeed, it is the quintessential english thing to do, a mad eccentric bloke tinkering in a shed at the bottom of the garden to create a thing to solve a thing!

Old Fred was firmly rooted in the past, he had a deep passion for the standards and values of the Victorian era and there is nothing wrong with that in itself.

 

Before he became a broadcaster he spent most of his life repairing and restoring anything that was over a hundred years old, things that other people made.

 

The innovators are people like Baylis and Dyson.
