Has anyone used an ISC rope grab on a rope strop instead of the Petzl grillon? if so wondered how they compared...been thinking bout buying the petzl but found an old rope grab in corner of my shed and so thought about just using that instead?

Ive tried both the ISC and the Grillon, and I have to admit that I much prefer the ISC rope grab.

Looks like it's obviously a personal preference type thing, will try the rope grab for now and see how it goes, might purchase a grillon too when the wife isnt looking... cheers for feedback

i used an isc for a while on a metal core flip line. it was smooth, nice one handed action, didnt slip either but the stupid thing only worked one way! i like double stropping so i went back to my prussik loop. lovely

I don’t think there is a lot to choose between them. One drawback with the Grillon is that it is CE marked as a unit with the Petzl rope so to keep it “legal” you need to buy Petzl’s replacement strops, whereas with a rope grab you can use any line of an appropriate diameter.
