Things are steady here. I prefer things like this less vehicles and machinery getting trashed. We still have 4 months of winter to come. Things will pick up in January after people have christmas out the way and burnt all those logs.

I had the same last week, they wanted another 4 cube of hardwood but were shocked by my new price and that the local sawmill could do a tranny for 140. I said do the maths per cube, my load is a pound cheaper per cube and i would bet the hardwood would be poplar and softwood! They didn't order, this year its price they are after deals and bargains.

I have noticed more people being careful with costs this year than ever, I think the credit crunch is really hitting some people.

I tell them to buy cheaper if you can find them, there is always someone around christmas with a few cheap (hopefully seasoned) logs around here.

I'm with Jon on that, I just had a call of someone wanting logs, they never asked if they were seasoned or if they were dry or if it's softwood or hardwood, they just wanted the price.

The way I'm looking at it now is that you get what you pay for, if someone wants to slog away and sell wood cheap then let them.

green wood only gives half the heat of fully seasoned so unless its half price and you can wait a year its a waste of time. So fully seasoned at £90 a cube or wet crap for £60 which would you choose :thumbup1:
