Aspen 2T is the way to go in my opinion. It's stable, consistant and burns with so little fumes. You get a precise 50:1 mix of synthetic oil whenever you fill your saw. We need to be charging enough for what we do to be able to afford the decent stuff for our machines. I think it says a lot about our industry and how we're regarded that we can't charge the extra and not have to worry about the extra £10-00 a day we'd spend on the Aspen.

 

There seems to be fuel surcharges on everything else so why can't we add our own? I've had plenty of people try Aspen and they say it's great and the machines run better and smells a bit funny but you don't get that 'muggy' feeling if you've been leaning over a saw all day..... and then they go back to the petrol pumps...!? I don't get it...... Are we just not earning the money we should be earning?

We should all be earning enough to be running brand new vans, chippers and saws but err we dont so we have to make some cut backs, it all depends on what your priority is with kit.

 

Personally I like to spend as little money as poss and use my time to ensure kit runs well, then pocket the difference

I've just scored the bore to hell on my MS660 for the second time in 10:confused1: months and am very suspicious of the reason. I religiously run my fuel mix at 40:1 on either sthil or husky oil. All my other saws are fine. Why would a new machine which has been serviced by a quality agent do this.

Maybee its just me but I'm losing confidence in this particular model.

 

I took it into Jonsie today to check it out, it will be very interesting to find out the results.

 

Has anyone else had anything similar ?

I bet he either finds an air leak somewhere or a carb/adjustment fault.

 

I have an 066 which gets well abused and doesnt miss a beat. Still as powerfull as the day it was made.

5lt =£10 i only run it on my hedge cutters,i dont enjoy sucking in 2 stroke fumes all day but find it bearable on chainsaws unless im thinning on a still day in a dense plantation!

Apart from this one, am I right in thinking that all the other saws that have blown up on this thread are Stihls..even with pukka oil.?

 

mates 066 blew up with cheap oil at 50:1 too

 

the husky was a brand new 3120 blew up after 2 hrs work
