46 with a 20inch bar???

Just treated myself to a 46 with a 20 inch bar and loads of bits from jonesie , cheers Justin. My 39 lives on the farm permantly now so this is my new fire wood saw, anybody run a 46 on a 20 bar? Thoughts...

I ran i 46 on a 24 bar YEARS ago and i liked it, so im looking forward to getting my paws on this...

Have ran a 46 for years and goes great with 20'' bar. Happy cutting

a guy i've worked before runs two 460's for felling big hardwoods, 25" on one for felling and an 18" one for rounding out

i run mine on a 25", runs very nice. Anyone run theirs with 30" or higher? Need something with a bigger bar but can't afford a bigger saw yet

I run an 044 with a 36in bar when my 066M is sick. If you look at the older catalogues they suggest a 32in max for the 044 and 046, so I reckon it's OK if you take it gently and don't expect the same cutting speed as you would with a bigger saw (or a shorter bar). I do take care to sharpen more often and probably leave the rakers a bit higher, to avoid stressing the engine. I wouldn't want to do it too often though - too slow for pleasure.
