BBC News - Wiltshire's football-pitch-sized plane tree sets record

I don't think the picture matches up very well mind.

Beautiful tree,

more importantly though, part of the article says

"We recruited a tree surgeon a few years ago who suggested taking 3m off all the branches around the tree for health and safety."

Anyone want to own up to that recommendation?

When I was there Peacocks were using the tree as a perching site which made it even more magical. They have courdoned off the tree with discrete ropes and stakes to discourage potential tree climbers (children-and mine included) as it all looks so fragile under the canopy. There is a ginormous Yew hedge that surrounds the whole place that is a manicured delight. If I can find my pics I'll post some on here as that too is as good as this tree!

Company I used to work for surveyed the whole site about six years ago, although I should'nt imagine they would recommend doing that kind of work, but who knows?
