To all you bosses - How much would you pay a day for a groundie?

Another angle to look at is what you expect from your groundsmen ? do you/your climbers expect that once the climbing is done that you/ the climber do not have to muck in with the ground work ? , is the groundy simply looking at his job as a job?. I had a guy that working for me that did not look to do anything unless he was asked - that way he thought he would have to do no more than he really had to do , he moaned when we workd a little late but did not moan when he went home early but was still paid for the day and even though when times were hard and work was quiet he was kept on .

To sum up what im trying to say - each member of staff has strengths and weeknesses and should be paid accordingly no matter what their job role is . but i do feel that alot of the time you will get someone who feels they deserv a pay rise but will not ask the boss or feel that they can discuss this with the boss so they moan to fellow workers or even staff from other firms !!! this personally gets my back up to the point that any chance of a pay increase has gone out of the window .

This is not directly aimed at any AT members but is mearly my oppinion

People keep saying groundies are "worth their weight in gold", well according to this site Buy 1 Kilogram fine gold bars from BullionByPost UK gold is over £30,000 per KG so your average groundie is worth £2400,000 :001_huh:

I disagree, I'll stick to £65 a day thanks :001_smile:

The problem is there are 1000's of people wanting into tree work, so their bargaining power is very limited.
