think about it mate its like picking your son or daughters name, they are going to have it for life, and like the company name you are going to have it for life, think about the area your in is there anything that stands out, ie - say if you live in a valley, of near a mountain or hill range, something that's not going to make people laugh so its the only reason it stands out but a name that shows your not just having a laugh you are a professional,

 

I wanted to call my business Crag marsh tree care, but sounded silly so a little extra thought came out with Majestic, i know its not original but what is now days.

The current 'rich' peoples thinking is that a trendy name is for a firm that doesn't last.

Solid like your name and you can't go far wrong- just look at a few in the trade

I know theres others and very successful ones

In the end it's all about commitment to customer service and professionalism and just doggedness.

I've known so many round here who have had a catchy name and lasted 5 minutes.

Tree monkey is something we use in the trade but think how it will be perceived by your potential customers. Not good eh?

Seen a firm with "no bush too tuff" on the side haha tree monkey may get a laugh and some customers but if you want to get into big contracts etc later you got to think of the image you are giving

Sorry to sound a bit pedantic, but that makes it sound as though trees are problematic and has quite negative connotations.

 

Think about any of you lacal tradesmen that you would use: would you choose one with a straightforward, does what it says on the tin, professional name or a gimicky jocular one?

 

I know which I would go for, and more importanly, most of you potential customers would as well.

You want the best of both really, funny enough to stick with people but serious enough for them to thing you mean bussiness.

 

I used to have a bussiness called "Flaming Weenie" it was quite succesfull but then it was as a "suplier of herbs to the entertainment industry" so a different set of customers.

 

There's a local-ish firm called treesnatchers
