max bar length on old 254?

as title really ive an old 254 that needs attention, might try n get it fixed, just wondering if it would handle a 20" bar so i could use it as a ringing up saw on bigger wood and preserve the new 346xp.

think 20" might be pushing it a bit, but 18" would be ok, keep chain nice and sharp tho, and up the oil pump to nearly max

You're more patient than me then - I'd want more CC's than that, ringing up's boring

 

Personally I'd probably not go bigger than 15" on it if it's a bit tired

we use an old 154se with an 18 inch bar for ringing up beech, it,s just fine.

I don't ring much stuff up these days! Although 70ccs and a really sharp chain always do the job for any sub 20" material.

i had 18 on my old 254xp and it wasnt great, 15 would be better

 

then again i wouldnt run 18 on a 346 unless i really had to
