Evenin all-thought this is the place to ask this question as my parents have been offered £500 worth of wood free if they buy a solid fuel range from a local supplier.

Im thinkin this is just a gimmick to get them to sign but how much wood should they expect to get at that price? Iv no idea what sort of wood it is even? Cheers fer reading this far,Pete:001_smile:

We bought a wood burning Rayburn 2 years ago and were offered the same kind of incentive - £500 of wood fuel free.

The fuel arrived and it was a pallet full of heat logs from these people Fuel - Woody Wood Products.

I would have rather had the £500 and bought my own logs as I don't think the true retail value was any where near £500.

I now sell firewood for £100 per cubic metre (seasoned hardwood). I could have bought 5 cubic metres with £500 which would last us about 4 months. The heat logs lasted about 6 weeks!

I just visited the website. Hardwood logs shrink-wrapped in plastic!! they certainly have the 'added value' thing sorted. The thing is, by making it seem as though wood fuel is this expensive, the strategy may ultimately be counter-productive.

By the way, a pallet of 'heatlogs' is £300, not £500, so if that's what pie-eater Pete's folks get, they may have cause to complain. I somehow don't think it's going to be '2 transit tippers level loaded'.

Cheers for quick replies gents just rang me Ma she said they have to sign tomorrow to get the free logs:sneaky2:not sure about cubes and that would you reckon on somethin like 2 transit tippers level loaded if that makes any sense?:confused1:

If a company was trying that kind of pressure selling BS on me I would walk away.

Go to a reputable dealer....
