i'm hearing you on the teeth biting with not enough force to cut teh wood, but thats where your throttle finger comes in, subtle changes in pressure. just enough but not too much. i've bored in with teh topside and the underside of the nose with no real problems, obviously it's more likely to kick using the upper side. its all situation dependent.

I was taught to bore with full revs, and i was taught to cut at different revs depending on what im cutting. what feals right basically.

while i'm using someone elses saws i'll operate them as tehy wish, when its my 288 / 385 on teh line i'll cut as i like

i'll back you up a bit jamie lad!! when i bore i start off at not full revs till the saw finds it way in.with bigger old trees it can quite often go straight into rot so its a case of each tree differently approached for me

I'll bore in half revs, when the saw is in and the dogs are burried and cutting, its full bore.

yep thats a idiot with a saw :scared1:and what tickled me was at the end he seems proud of the hash hes made of it personally i would have dog toothed it some what nearer the deck.

But its no PC to remind them of there fail atempts where just suposed to tell bygones be bygones
