Huge dead Sycamore Advice Needed

Hi All,

My neighbour has a huge Sycamore on a hedge row about 15 foot from thier house. The tree was very impressive with a perfect canopy shape but it is now just a dead white skeleton. I would say its 30 -35" at the base.

Basically i want to get my hands on it for firewood, so i am wanting to know what if any the specfic dangers are of having this dead tree in close proximity to thier bungalow.

For example, will the root system be weaker? definate increased risk of flattening thier house etc etc?

Cheers for any help, and appologies if it sounds mercenary! but that dead sycamore will sell really well! :001_rolleyes:

Be very careful felling dead Sycamore, the hinge will be next to useless IME.

Cheers for that, the last dead Sycamore i took down was a bit smaller and your right the hinge just cracked. Thankfully I had a rope round it with a grey fergy hanging of the other end so it came down in near enough the right place.
