Never cut my boots ever when i first started the very first day i was using a saw it had chain creep on tick over as a went to walk off it caught the new trousers and ripped a nice cut into them the lesson learnt was always put the chain break on.

So to that end im very thankfull we have to wear protection as i proberly would not otherwise and have a nasty scar.

I have been in some weird positions cutting round my feet, between/ undr my legs you name it.

So better work positioning is the key then?

Pfft theres no time in the real world for work positioning.

I reckon i could cut a tatoo of myself into a hawthorn hedge. :001_smile:

Cut my boots quite a few times only with the 020 allways "Yeah thats close but...."

Never ever cut my boots. Cut the back of my leg mildly (kickback) as a result of bad positioning, but that was 18 years ago, pre the ruling on PPE. never since (it hurts -A LOT!).

I think the Peltzman effect is definately happening to the people who say they are cutting their boots and pants...

Too right, why should I move into a better position when I can just clip the top of my steel toe cap? :001_smile:

Every second counts, the less time I spend in work and the more time out with my friends and loved ones (all say ahhhh) then so much the better.

I've had my boots 2 years and they have 4 cuts on the toecaps :scared1:

Are those cuts from an 020 in the tree or a bigger saw on the ground?

All I can remember is one cut on my boots from an 044 while cutting round a stump to put poison in/on it, othe rthan that never cut anywhere near my boots and not my trousers either.

I like front protection because of exhaust burns, although I've stopped doing that too now that I buy my own trousers.

I've never cut my ppe, touch wood, i've always used allround protection (i'm used to it in all weathers). The only time i didn't use it, i ended up with 2 kids :laugh1:

Thats the funniest thing I've read here! I'm sure theres a work positioning joke available but I'll leave it....

All from the 020 Rupe and all from conifer work.

No tie in points, nearly doing the splits trying to gain purchase in a row of conifer 300ft long and 20ft wide where planting was too far spaced and you can see what your doing until you have cleared all the crap from around you cutting near to your feet and body etc etc etc

Oh (Sigh) in an ideal world where we had a choice of tie in points and ideal positioning................................

It's ok people saying you should position yourself better but that's not always possible
