I use slings a lot! Girth hitch and half hitch, 2 or 3 branches at once, 2 slings on big stuff etc etc

Cos I only tied in once.

 

Cos I undid my lanyard after making the cut so that I could help lift the 680kgs piece using the felling lever hangin off my harness! You try using one of those when tied into a stem!

When rigging straight timber, try not to do this -

Thats because the rope they were using wasn't strong enough and they took too big a piece.

 

Or not using enough turns/wraps.
