Stolen chipper / ebay scam

Hi all

 

Can anyone shed any light on this...I've paid for a second-hand kwikchip euroline120 from a guy in Ayreshire, Scotland. The item was advertised on ebay, and it transpires that the seller had sent me a very convincing spoof email from ebay. I paid the seller who has not contacted me, not delivered the chipper and done a runner with my money.

 

Does anyone know of a 2004 Kwikchip Euroline Chipper that has been stolen, or has anyone been in the same situation? The Police are looking into it. Please help. Thanks.

sorry to hear this but i'm sure there was a thread on here about this sort of thing going on in Ayreshire in the past. Maybe somebody else can shed more light on it than i can.

I Cant remember the chipper but i am sure i saw a guy on ebay with a listing saying something along the lines of.... Someone has posted his chipper for sale using the pics from the advert he bought the chipper from. When i looked the pictures were identical, if that makes sense! I'll see if i can go back in the search history in ebay!

No, he created a spoof page that explained how my purchase was protected. I'm usually really cautious but must of been blinded by what I thought was a good deal. This is what the machine I've bought looks like, anyone recognise it?

You should be covered by the distance selling regs. Anything bought online from anywhere entitles you to a 7 day cooling off period and you can by law receive a full refund if a product or service cannot be provided as advertised.

Assuming the seller is not a crook, which it would appear he is.

OP, how did you pay for this machine? That really is the crucial question although if it's a scam you will have been encouraged to pay by cash or some such.

Sadly this does happen. There's a thread on here somewhere about a similar occurence. It sucks.

I put "chippers ebay' into our own search facility, and several other warning have been issued. I know this doesnt help you retrieve your money, or get the chipper, but once bitten twice shy eh?

mmmm... keep sharp. I spent weeks looking for a new chipper back in December. I noticed a trend with favourably priced chippers being sold by people who were 'away with work' when you asked to go for a look. After a while the same pics re-appeared as different chippers in different locations, their sellers were all working in Scotland and unavailable?? Coincidence?? As it turned out I didn't get a chipper back then but I would suggest paying cash/draft in person, once you have the chipper hitched to your vehicle. Doesn't help with your missing dough though, good luck treesloth.
