I have read through your threads about your 3340kg unladen 3.5 t and your new beast, seem's alike a very good way to go...if your licensed for it.

billy68- on the website it only mentions fines as i quoted for being over weight the full paragraph was :-

All inspections revealing failures for drivers’ hours, overloading, mechanical condition or other vehicle related infringements will be fined between £30 and £200 depending on the severity of the offence. Offences relating to the condition of tyres, braking systems and steering will continue to carry driving licence endorsements.

So i assumed they only give points for bald tires, faulty brakes etc etc and just relativley modest fines for overloading and the like, but please feel free to correct me, its jut what i've found exploring their site.

Grossed 6.5 t once carrying paving slabs for my patio in the Iveco :blushing:, Also know of a chap that had a puncture on his trailer so tracked his Jensen up on top of the pick up full of chip and hobbled home on the rim. Vosa would have loved him :001_rolleyes:

Legendary!!! incidentally a big trailer and tracked chipper inthe truck would be an ideal set up for me with the addition of B+E, as i am allowed a train weight of 7,500kg so no amount of a chip in a highsided Ifor TT would put that over and atracked machine itnhe bed wouldn't be too naughty :001_tt2:

my truck could take that, but i've only just scraped together enough for a twenty year old tow behind so a tracked chipper is a little way off yet. But tbh if their website is tru eand you can only be fined up to £200 for overloading if/when it happens i'm deffinatley not as concerned as i was about the prospect of getting caught a little heavy.

i think the way forward is a 4x4 pick up big enough to get a tracked chipper on the back and then a highsided tipper trailer behind that would be the way to not be over loaded on the basic lisence.

a small t/c weighs 1200k,!!! + your kit etc

the weigh to go is get the b&e ,or what ever needed ,run a bigger truck
