any advice on kit?

hi, I'm just about to start getting some kit together for my chainsaw qualifications and I've been told I need this lot:

Safety helmet inc ear defenders + eye protection

chainsaw gloves

chainsaw trousers

chainsaw boots

large wound dressing (that fills me with confidence!)

chainsaw

fuel/oil

toolkit

 

any advice on whats good and where to get it all?

Check the ad's list on the right of the forum index, im sure you'll find some suppliers there.

 

I would suggest,

 

  • Petzl Vertex Vent with Husqvarana Attachment,
  • Arbortec or Oregan Chainsaw Gloves
  • Stihl HiFlex Trousers type C
  • boots? i went for Aquafell experts,
  • Just get a 1man first aid kit, should have wound dressing init.

 

The rest, i really wouldnt have a clue.

as far as i know, only if your working on the ground.

 

No ! cant find the hse link right now but they were de listed sometime last year I think !

page 5 recommended not mandatory

 

HOWEVER risk assessment re slips, poor grip & Havs, may require them

we certainly issue them as standard to all our staff

Dont the course supply the kit.

 

that is gonna cost alot in one hit.

 

He going to havet to buy them anyway, if he's gonna to start a job in this industry. If your thinking about climbing in the future, buy all round Type C pants.

Hi -flex is what i use and think there the best for monyey.
