Thanks. Maybe, but it doesn't look quite right. I have no idea what it is, other than Dragonfly / Damsel Fly kind of thing. We saw a load of them at Trebah Garden, down in Cornwall today. 

 

The iridescence and intensity of colour was most striking.

damsels fold their wings along their bodies, dragonflies are 90 deg when at rest.

male banded demoiselles are iridescent blue, females are more greenish,  

did they look similar to these,

Dragonfly season is from May to September, and we have some beautiful damselflies...

I have a lot of water nearby, I get loads of them, from small damsel fly, to huge emperor dragonflies.

when the local ant population take to the wing, the dragonflies arrive within seconds and for the next hour will feast, it looks like a remake of the battle of Britain in miniature.

It's a great place btw, Trebah Garden. Lovely garden in a lovely setting. Huge collection of big tree ferns and an interesting WW2 history.
