Commercial Vehicle Breakdown Cover. What is there

After a situation where I needed to get a dead pickup truck moved a few miles away to get fixed and having asked the R A C, with whom I have been a member for ages, to help and receiving the reply ‘as it is a commercial vehicle and over x long we can get you a price’ and that being i.r.o. £ 300.00 . I realise it may be a sensible contingency to find cover before I need it next! Any suggestions, help, experiences good or bad appreciated.

One thing that could be worth doing is arguing with RAC in advance, and getting the vehicle specifically written in to your cover.

I had problems with them for a couple of years, after many years of owning small vans (Combo, Escort). They started saying that because it was commercial they wouldn't cover it. I asked if they covered 4x4s - yes they do. I pointed out that it was smaller, and lighter, than a 4x4, so why wouldn't they cover it? They agreed - cover reinstated. They tried to charge me extra, but not much, but again I argued that they wouldn't charge more for a 4x4, and got it back down to normal price.

AA personis membe rnot vehcile anything up to 3.5t...maybe more but i;ve not had anything bigger. they've moved everything from ford fiesta to my Dodge no questions asked. but they can;t move stuff on the lorry if its opver loaded as they'll only lift 3.5t...so they know if your having them on or not lol.
