We had to wrap new ropes around a tree and stretch them out with a truck to loosen them up a bit. Manilla ropes were more plyable, I prefered them. And they were CHEAP.

Ha,ha! Yes my first climbing kit consisted of three strand everything! Didn't have slings or pulleys,just boought some Shackles from the local boat yard and spliced topping down strops.

 

Bought my first modern rope after a season in Germany.

Still have one of those in the yard, with the steel tear drop eye :scared1:

 

ha found one of them myself that i havnt used for years still cant bring my self to chuck it....i used to love the stretch in 3 strand nice and bouncy,if you where flash though you had multi plat:001_cool:
