Treequip, I have toyed with the idea of dusting off the mig and having a go at one of these but these days most of the stuff I get through is 12" and bigger. What's the biggest stuff it will handle? I guess the limitation is on loading it in the first place?

You can put as big a log as you want in it, you just have to build it big enough and be able to lift the log, the first bit is merely a question of construction and the second part isn’t nearly as hard as it sounds.

You lock the gate up then pick up one end of the log and “hoss” it into the gap, now drop the gate and lift the end of the log that’s on the floor, when it’s just above level you let it drop and the gate bights into the log and holds it.

The one in the pics handles a 10 inch log with ease, scaling it up by 10% +/- wouldn’t be a problem but as you say loading it could be an issue. A set of log tongs with a bar through so 2 men could lift might be an option, I would certainly make the frame a bit lower.

Just a word on the jogjack. I have used one and I would like to say it is one of the best "new" pieces of kit on the market and well built to last! Cheap at twice the price

If i were going to be pedantic, ive a feeling it's far from new. I believe it's a re-imagining of an original Clark engineering product from some time back.

They say they dont make things like they did anymore, but I guess there are the happy exceptions :)
